WORLD GOA DAY- Rocks NY Tri-State Area

What's this item about? What makes it interesting? Write a catchy description to grab your audience's attention...

The globally celebrated event uniting individuals with a sincere love for the Goan culture and art celebrates success in the New York Tri-State area once again. The event was co-hosted by Invictus Films Incorporated (New York, NY) & Evita Entertainment (New York 501 © Non-Profit Organization) on July 14, 2019. This year, we proudly had the support of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (New York Indian Consulate), as they supported our vision to celebrate the unique aspects of culture, music, cuisine, and art, which make Goa one of a kind.

Last year, 2018, was the first time that World Goa Day was held in the New York Tri-State area. The enthusiasm from last year built into a foundation, which saw attendees from New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. Pennsylvania, and Maryland this year. We only hope that our audience and participants grow larger in size as each year passes. None of this could have been possible without the support of the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Support of this magnitude is necessary as it helps build awareness of the language and culture, which still is an underdog in the mainstream entertainment market; we aspire to change that with the events we produce. We are ever grateful to the many organizations and individuals who came forward in multiple ways to make this event a success. Thank you to all of the organizations around North America, that made this celebration, a grand success. Some of the organizations involved this year were: The Goan Association of New York, Goan Association of New Jersey, Goan Assoication of Hudson Valley, GOan Overseas Association (DC/MD/VA), United Goans of New Jesey, St. Francis Xavier Novena Group (Philadelphia),& M.C.A.

The typical World Goa Day features showcases of the various festivals and holidays in Goa, such as Sao Joao and Carnival, to name a few. Our World Goa Day, was none the less. The highlight of our event was when talented youth took the stage to showcase their extraordinary abilities in the form of music, song, and dance. We salute all the parents and mentors who supported our youth, by nurturing their talents. There were guest speakers who spoke on important social topics such as obesity and pharmaceutical research. And when one felt hungry, we had an array of food stalls featuring Goan & International cuisine, as well as vendors selling takeaway items such as masalas and pickles. One day these individuals will lead the pack to represent their culture, with the next generation. As part of our Youth Talent Initiative, the many young artists who performed and/or submitted talent videos, will be assessed by a team of judges. The artist who performed the best amongst the participants, will be invited to perform live during our upcoming tiatr in August: Bhurgim Kiteak Somzonant?(Stay Tuned to our Website www.invictusfilmsinc.comfor more details.

While our show was a success, our dream has only just begun. We want our culture to rise to global recognition and this can only be possible with growing support from our fans. There are many more feats we have yet to cross, and we have faith in the possibility, that one day, World Goa Day will see over 1000 attendees in the New York Tri-State area alone. Embrace your culture and bring forward your ideas. We are eager to hear how we, as a collaborative unit, can make our events larger, grander, and wholesome. Let’s all come together to make this dream work. We do hope to see you all at the upcoming tiatr in August and September of 2019. The tiatr is written by DySp Sammy Tavares and features an extensive cast of musicians and actors.

For now,  I would like to thank all you made World Goa Day a success. We love your support and we look forward to celebrating with you next year. VIVA Goa VIVA Konkani !
